Advancing cardiac MRI with exercise stress testing
At the National Heart Centre Singapore, the Lode MR Ergometer Pedal has been part of an exercise stress cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) protocol since 2017. The system supports clinicians in improving diagnostic confidence for patients with complex cardiac conditions while providing a comfortable experience for both patients and radiographers.
The National Heart Centre Singapore developed an exercise stress CMR protocol using the Lode MR Ergometer Pedal to support the assessment of patients with exercise-induced cardiac remodeling, early dilated cardiomyopathy and suspected ischemic heart disease.
By combining exercise with cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging, clinicians aim to improve diagnostic confidence when differentiating exercise-induced cardiac remodeling from early dilated cardiomyopathy, as well as diagnosing ischemic heart disease in patients presenting with chest pain.
Since its introduction in 2017, the MR Ergometer Pedal has become an integral part of the centre’s workflow. According to the team, the system fits seamlessly into their MR setup and has received excellent feedback from both radiographers and patients for its comfort and ease of use.
“The MR Ergometer Pedal fits well with our set-up and we have been using this as an exercise stress modality since 2017. Our radiographers and patients have excellent feedback on the comfort and ease of use.”
