Setting benchmarks in smooth acceleration and giving a natural running experience, the Katana Sport XL also introduces a standard Katana Sport variant with a running surface of 190 x 70 cm. It offers continuous adjustability over an extensive speed spectrum, ranging from 0.5 to 30 km/h (upgradable to 40 km/h). With its expansive running surface measuring 220 x 70 cm and an incline range spanning from 0 to 25%, the Katana Sport XL is meticulously crafted to cater to the requirements of sports medicine applications.

The belt extends seamlessly to the end, providing athletes with an unrestricted running experience. For added safety, there’s an emergency stop feature located at the back of the Katana, automatically stopping the belt when the athlete falls to far back on the belt.

Equipped with a 7″ Control Unit featuring a user-friendly touchscreen interface and steadfast fixed side handrails, the Katana Sport prioritizes both ease of use and patient safety. Its distinctive Lode Slat Belt Technology boasts 106 soft grip-covered slats, ensuring an exceptional high-speed experience while maintaining a natural walking and running feel.

Product features

Service friendly slat treadmill

Lode slat treadmills are almost maintenance free. Because of the unique slat technology no bearing-greasing is required. The only annual maintenance that has to be done is checking the running and electrical parts and the velocity calibration of the treadmill.

Fully software controlled electronic fans

The electronic fans in the motor compartment are fully software controlled for low noise at low belt speeds and independent forced air cooling of the motor for maximum power output at high belt speeds.

Application specific motor design

Specific motor winding, enabling high current throughput over full motor frequency range, resulting in high torque at low belt speeds and maximum power at high belt speeds.

Closed loop motor control

This way of motor control enables:

  • Full brake at zero speed.
  • Rigid speed control at all speeds, typically at interest when using steep angles, low speeds and/or high Test Subject weight.
  • Load independent speed
  • Angle independent speed

Application specific motor control

State-of-the-art variable frequency drive for efficient and precise motor control over full motor frequency range.

Downhill walking as an option (-25%)

This treadmill can be executed with 25% negative elevation. This allows for downhill walking which is extremely useful for rehabilitation of certain injuries.

Standard Safety Lanyard

The product comes with a standard safety lanyard to enable automatic emergency stop

LEM compatible

This product can be used with Lode Ergometry Manager (LEM) software to manage data and to apply specific protocols when a Communication card is present

Safety belt and fall stop: Safety remains a top priority in medical contexts. The safety belt and fall stop add-on provides a critical safeguard for the Katana Sport treadmill.  The safety harness can be attached to a safety belt and fall stop that prevents the test subject from falling on the belt. This option is mounted on the side handrails of the treadmill and allowing them to push their limits without fear. The athlete or test subject will be caught in the event of a balance loss or misstep. This system quickly stops the treadmill motion.

Speed upgrade to 40 km/h: Selecting this option increases the maximum speed to 40 km/h, expanding its capabilities for high-performance training and assessments.

Negative elevation: The inclusion of negative elevation introduces a dynamic dimension to the treadmill, simulating downhill training to a maximum of -25%. This feature benefits athletes recovering from injuries or the prevention for injuries by providing controlled exposure to diverse slopes, enhancing the rehabilitation process.

Autospeed: The autospeed feature smartly adapts the treadmill pace according to the patient’s position on the belt. It slows down when you fall behind and speeds up when you’re at the front of the belt. This frees the medical professionals from continuous manual adjustments, allowing them to focus on monitoring and evaluating athletes in how far or quick they can come within a certain timeframe.

Sp02 monitoring and external blood pressure: Real-time monitoring of blood pressure and Sp02 levels during exercise offers valuable insights into cardiovascular responses, aiding well-informed decisions by medical professionals.

Remote control: The remote control add-on empowers medical experts to make treadmill adjustments without having to touch the display and therefore they can stay on the side of the treadmill.

Frequently asked questions

Is it possible to control the Lode ergometers and treadmills with external CPET equipment?

Yes, you can find interface sheets for most common devices on the website at the “interfacing” tab of the product. If your CPET device is not present you can ask us to support you. In most cases we can quickly provide you with a solution.

Can the Valiant be controlled by LCRM?

Yes the Valiant Treadmill can be controlled by LCRM. The treadmill is supplied with a RS232 port and can be controlled by a seperate com port.

How do I know how to interface my ECG or ergospirometry device to a Lode product?

In the SERVICE tab of every product, you find all available interfacing options.

You can download a short instruction on how to choose the right settings on your ergometer or treadmill and the ECG or ergospirometry device.

Is it possible to measure heart rate when testing with the Valiant or the Katana?

Yes, to measure heart rate on the treadmills you can use the Smart heart rate option (945833). With this option we can easily cover the range between the receiver and the belt for a stable heart rate measurement.
Note: the 945833 cannot be used as trigger for the blood pressure measurement module.

Is it possible to perform blood pressure measurements when testing with the Valiant or the Katana?

Yes, this is possible in combination with an ECG system. For accurate blood pressure measurements a heart rate trigger is required, therefore an external ECG system is necessary. Which ECG systems are compatible with the Lode devices can be found in the tab Interfacing of the device of interest.

Note: with the Valiant Ultra’s please consider the treadmill size.

Is Lode recommending special disinfection procedures for the Lode products due to COVID-19?

Yes, Due to the fact that the scientific research on the spread of Covid-19 is not yet conclusive Lode recommends to disinfect and clean all Lode products and their accessories (cuffs, heart rate belts, SpO2 sensors, handgrips/rails, touchscreens etc) that are in contact with the patient and or the medical personnel with a standard disinfectant as used in the hospital before and after every patient, with attention and care!

Since these agents are sometimes aggressive it might be advisable to check the effect on sensitive surfaces, like cushioning on non-visible areas. Lode will not take responsibility for discoloration due to these agents.
