Angio with Bed Carrier
The Angio with Bed Carrier brings Lode’s medical-grade cycle ergometry to patients who cannot leave their bed. The mobile carrier positions the Angio ergometer over a hospital bed, enabling active leg cycling in supine position with precisely controlled, reproducible workloads. Where conventional bed bikes focus on mobilisation, the Angio with Bed Carrier is designed as a measurement platform for academic intensive care units, research departments and specialised rehabilitation centres. Instead of bringing the patient to the ergometer, the ergometer comes to the patient.
Active, controlled ergometry
The Angio with Bed Carrier is designed for active ergometry: all exercise is driven by the patient, without motor-assisted or passive movement. This allows controlled workload application and accurate measurement of physiological responses, which are essential for clinical research and protocol-driven assessments.
Ergometry where the patient needs it
Four swivelling castors move the system easily through corridors, doors and narrow lifts, and a central brake keeps it firmly in position over the bed. Because one unit can be shared across multiple beds or departments, precise in-bed ergometry becomes an efficient investment for larger hospitals.
Applications and users
The Angio with Bed Carrier is intended for settings where controlled exercise and high-quality data are required:
- Academic and Research-driven ICU environments
- Clinical research and exercise physiology studies
- Specialised, protocol-driven rehabilitation
Typical users include:
- Clinical researchers
- ICU teams in academic centers
- Exercise physiologists
- Specialized rehabilitation professionals
Why the Angio with Bed Carrier
Accurate and reproducible
Precise, stable workload control delivers consistent test conditions for longitudinal measurements and comparison within and between studies, even at the very low workloads typical of critically ill patients.
Bedside application
Ergometry without patient transfer, extending Lode ergometry to patient groups that are typically excluded from conventional testing.
Support CPET in supine position
Combine the Angio with Bed Carrier with a compatible metabolic cart for cardiopulmonary exercise testing in supine position.
Hygiene by design
Disinfectable handgrips and specially developed pedal shoes support infection prevention protocols on the ward.
Protocol integration
Suitable for use within structured testing protocols, including submaximal and protocol-driven exercise testing at the bedside.
Efficient use
One system can be used across multiple beds or departments, supporting flexible deployment.
A dedicated research instrument
It is developed for situations where data quality, control, and reproducibility are essential, rather than for general mobilization purposes.
Highlight
Developed with clinical input
The Angio with Bed Carrier was evaluated together with intensive care physiotherapists, with particular attention to positioning, fixation, usability and cleaning. A large control unit on the carrier faces the therapist, a smaller display keeps the patient informed, and the ergometer is set to the right distance with one hand.
Designed for the supine patient
A 0-W start-up option, a supportive leg rest and a carrier without crossbar over the legs make cycling comfortable for even the weakest patients. In a trial placement at a specialised pulmonary rehabilitation centre, the set-up was described as easy to disinfect and user friendly to operate.
Feature
Small adjustment steps
The workload of the Lode ergometers is adjustable in steps of only 1 watt. Depending on your wishes, the test operator or the test subject can adjust the workload. The steps of 1 watt are possible in the manual mode as well as within protocols.
Extreme low start up load
The extreme low start-up load of 7 watts and the adjustability in small steps of 1 watt make this ergometer perfectly suitable for many different applications. The standard control unit shows multiple ergometry parameters and you can determine your specific default setting and start-up menu. A 0 W start-up option is available for very weak patients.
LEM compatible
This product can be used with Lode Ergometry Manager (LEM) software to manage data and to apply specific protocols when a Communication card is present
LCRM compatible
This product can be used with Lode Cardiac Rehab Manager (LCRM) software.
Easy to remove in case of emergencies
This system can be removed quickly from the bed in case of emergencies.
Easy to transport
The system can be transported easily, so it can follow the patient to other departments where rehabilitation continues.
Therapist and patient displays
A large control unit on the carrier faces the therapist, while a smaller display on the ergometer keeps the patient informed.
Disinfectable pedal shoes
Specially developed pedal shoes with leg support can be disinfected on the ward.
Central brake
One central brake keeps the carrier stable over the bed

Frequently asked questions
Is Lode recommending special disinfection procedures for the Lode products due to COVID-19?
Yes, Due to the fact that the scientific research on the spread of Covid-19 is not yet conclusive Lode recommends to disinfect and clean all Lode products and their accessories (cuffs, heart rate belts, SpO2 sensors, handgrips/rails, touchscreens etc) that are in contact with the patient and or the medical personnel with a standard disinfectant as used in the hospital before and after every patient, with attention and care!
Since these agents are sometimes aggressive it might be advisable to check the effect on sensitive surfaces, like cushioning on non-visible areas. Lode will not take responsibility for discoloration due to these agents.
